About Me

Cascade Starships HZ logo-color.png

Hello! I am Devyn and welcome to Cascade Starships. I am a massive Star Trek and Sci-Fi fan of all forms. I have been building models for about a half decade now and have been doing commissioned builds for over a year. I am a big tinkerer with a Mechanical Engineering education and I love working with my hands. I do commissions because I enjoy creating things for others almost just as much as I do building models. I am based in Washington State and don't ever plan on leaving.

I specialize in Star Trek plastic model kits, but I do resin kits and models from other franchises. Each model is built with the utmost care and accuracy to the desired source material. I spend countless hours ensuring every color looks right, and every detail is reasonably captured.

Most of my builds feature internal lighting. These lighted models range from statically lit with no animations, to motorized bussard blades with a warp animation and phaser fire!

This site serves as a way to reach out to me with any ideas, look at studio photography of my builds, and read about how I built each model.

Please, spend some time looking around and I hope you enjoy. I will always respond to a chat even if its about how cool my logo looks ;).

My Portfolio

Welcome to my portfolio. Here you’ll find a selection of my builds, both commissioned and just for fun. Check out my Blog to see if I wrote a detailed breakdown of any of these!

Take a look at my blog!

I will write about my important builds as they are completed! I go into the WIP photos and my processes for each build, detailing each step of the way.

Captain of the 1/2500 Enterprise F

"Words cannot describe how much care and details Devyn put into my 1/2500 Enterprise F model. If puts Fanhome's Enterprise F model to shame. The crisp details, the paint choices and frankly just how damn stunning this model is... if people saw the comparison up close, they would be so incredibly jealous. As a creator, Devyn's communication and care are unmatched. His attention to detail, his consideration of his client's preferences for their pieces are truly exceptional. I will only say be patient with the process because these pieces and details take time to get right. Please keep that in mind. Know that you are getting a work of art when you commission something from him. 10/10, 5 stars, you won't regret his work.

Captain of the 1/1400 Enterprise E

★★★★★ Absolutely Outstanding Work by Devyn!
I recently had the pleasure of commissioning Devyn to build a custom lit Enterprise E model for me, and the result is nothing short of breathtaking. This wasn't just a display piece, it featured animated phaser arrays, a customized touchscreen, and authentic sound effects that truly bring the ship to life. The attention to detail was phenomenal, every panel, light, and effect felt perfectly in place, capturing the spirit of the Enterprise E in a way I didn't think possible.
Devyn's craftmanship is matched only by his professionalism. His communication throughout the process was patient, clear, and incredibly reassuring. I always knew exactly what stage the build was at, and he welcomed my input along the way. His passion for model making shines through in every element of the finished piece, and it's clear he takes immense pride in delivering something truly special.
A true credit to the model making world. If you have the opportunity to work with Devyn, do it. You'll not only get a stunning model, but an enjoyable, collaborative experience from start to finish.

Captain of the Year of Hell Voyager

I stumbled across Devyn after he finished his first commission, taking a look thru a few of the ships he had done I decided to shoot my shot with a model I had wanted for years. A Year of Hell styled Voyager.

I fully expected to be turned down, I mean come on that is an insane ask! But lo and behold we started talking and before long the project was under way.
As this was such a specific commission he worked very closely with me, getting my opinions on almost every step of the process and I spent time combing thru every frame of the YoH two-parter for blurry reference images for him. It was nerd heaven.

Seeing the majesty of the Voyager come to life was amazing every step of the way, then to hear the pain as he had to destroy it was amazing. Seeing his imagination running wild with where to lay this broken pipe, how to use this mesh, oh this wire can be used for this, some plastic shavings for rubble, it was a sight to behold.

My collection of ships is pretty big, just past 400 models. Among all of those I have to say that the this ship, made by Devyn, is a masterpiece and my favorite ship of them all. I highly recommend giving him a shot because if he can do THIS, just imagine what a clean ship will look like.
Five stars. Two thumbs up. 10/10. What other rating system would you like?
